[SAVE THE DATE] 3rd Trans Health, Advocacy and Research Conference 2017

What does it mean to decolonise and depathologise transgender identities?

Gender DynamiX is proud to present the 3rd Trans Health, Advocacy and Research Conference in Southern Africa, taking place on 23rd – 26th of February 2017 in Johannesburg.

Inspired by students movements across South Africa, the theme for this year’s conference is:

“Decolonising and Depathologising Trans Identities.”

This conference presents an opportunity for activists, advocates, healthcare professionals and researchers working in the fields of transgender, gender diverse, gender non-conforming and intersex to come together to rethink and reimagine what it means to decolonise and depathologise transgender identities.
The 3-day conference invites participants to think, question, critique and remodel understandings of issues such as: power, landlessness, access to health, language, erotica, heritage, law and gender; related to the realities of transgender, gender diverse, gender non-conforming and intersex communities.

Join the conversation online using hashtags #DecoloniseTrans and #DepathTrans and tell us what decolonising and depathologising transgender identities means to you.
