Lesego Ramphele is a scholar in the Psychology discipline, specialising in Research Psychology. He is currently working in the department Psychology at UNISA and he is also in the process of completing his Masters in Research Psychology. Lesego is also a registered intern research psychologist and he is affiliated with the Psychological Society of South Africa (Psyssa). His Masters dissertation is entitled ‘doing gender’: Footprints of transgender people in South Africa. It looks at the experiences of transgender people within a gendered society and how intersection of various factors affecting a transgender people’s lives come into play.
Lesego has worked in the NGO sector between 2005-2011, focussing on marginal groups and doing community development. He then proceeded to HSRC, where he worked on a project that focused on MSM Tshwane. For a number of years Lesego has been using research as an advocacy tool to sensitise other scholars in the discipline about the LGBTI community.
